Mar de Laxe :: Objectives

The objective of the Mardelaxe project is to dynamize and promote the fishing sector in the port of Laxe through the development of fishing tourism that will provide a supplementary economic source for fishermen, so that impact is reduced on fisheries. This, coupled with other necessary measures allows for a fair exploitation of marine resources that will in turn lead to sustainable fishing activity.

The implementation of the Mardelaxe project aims to dignify the fishing profession in the eyes of society, and above all for fishermen themselves, so that it is not forgotten, and becomes an attractive profession that is passed down from generation to generation as this has always kept it alive. Today this cannot be guaranteed due to the mass exodus of our youth to the larger cities in search of more dignified work.
